local 1746 members volunteer at career fair

Members, Gail Elmore (1746 President), Cindi Reynolds (JFS) and Alford Parish III (DCFS), volunteered as career guides, sharing their professional experiences in Health and Human Services with local youth in Cleveland. The team set up a table with information about their professions, unions, contracts and more. Youth were able to ask questions and gain information about what we do, who and how we serve in the community as members of Local 1746. They learned what a typical day on the job looks like, what the pay and benefits are and what drew our members to their career paths.

This wasn’t your typical job fair! Youth learned about what it means to be a union member - from standing in solidarity with your union family, to the meaning, strength and benefits of a negotiated contract. Most of the youth had never heard of this concept and were intrigued. Experiences like these are why Local 1746 will keep showing up for our youth and community - to make sure they know the importance of the work we do and the unions who are there to support them along the way!
